Getting back to working with graphite again. I think I had gotten a little annoyed in the past because of smudging issues. Working with blending stumps has really bought back my love for it again; and its just refreshing.

This week I’ve been trying to get back to the regular morning warmups in my sketchbook. I don’t always use references for my work, but sometimes I like to do portrait-type drawings on some sort of toned paper to help improve my drawing abilities for future projects. The subject matter tends to be related to shows I’m watching, or something from a novel I’ve picked up. This week I was feeling the urge to draw Tom Hardy from BBC’s Peaky Blinders and FX’s Taboo, as I had just finished watching Season 3 and the first 3 episodes of the latter. From Wuthering Heights, The Dark Knight Rises, Child 44 and many more, Tom still continues to be my favourite actor out there. So it was a no-brainer when it came to this week’s sketches.
I decided to go with some of my favourite/memorable moments.
Tom Hardy really does steal the show every time. 🙂

I’ve been drawing mermaids quite a lot lately. Preparing for a painted piece perhaps…
